Island Hvar is the biggest island from the group of islands in centre Dalmacie. Its board and most broken part is located at the west part of island, where is at the south side the most high peak of island Sveti Nikola (686).
All coasts are steep with lot of bays. The north coast is more broken then south. The land between the biggest bay Stari Grad and the village Jelsa is productive. They are no surface water falls, only by village Jelsa are freshwaters falls, which supplied town Hvar. Island has a temperate Adriatic clima. The chier occupation are tourism, farming, growing of vineyard, olive trees, rosemary, lavender and fishing. Canning factory are situated in Hvar, Sučuraj and Vrbovska.
The favorite tourist resorts are Hvar and Jelsa. The biggest residency connect route. The island is connect with land through via ferry. In the front of the southwest coast is island group Pakleni otoci and in the front of central part on the south is island Soedro. The island was occupied in the prehistoric epoch. They are reminds of wall with engravings and signs. After the Romans epoch became the Hvar and Dalmacie under the Byzantine control. In 7th century was occupied of Neretvany. Between 11th century and year 1918 was under the control of Croatian and Croatian –Hungary kings, Bosna’s king Tvrkda, and Split’s king. In the 16th and 17th century was the important centre of Croatian literature.
